sho nagata

The collection created being inspired by a certain black person who was born in Britain and became a tailor, in the 1700s where slavery still remained in Britain.

The design of this collection started imaging the clothes which this person (the tailor) designed as workwear and everyday clothes for himself.

Details and fabric are created based on the historical backgrounds (the historical backgrounds in and relationship between the West Indies and Britain from the 1500s to early 1800s) and his own background and emotions.

Using natural dyeing with natural dyes which has been used in Africa since long ago where the personʼs roots are, and integrating the factors of traditional tailored clothes and workwear into clothes.

This collection expresses something born from fusion of subculture and culture, and rebellious spirit.
